Cancer
Services of Grant County offer these services to anyone with cancer
who lives or works in Grant County FREE OF CHARGE!
Literature & Visual Aids
Cancer Services of Grant County, Inc. offers
a variety of pamphlets, books, visual aids, and videotapes for
distribution or loan on cancer related topics and cancer prevention.
There are also models available for "hands on" education.
Some of the available materials are designed
to help the cancer clients and their families understand their
illness and assist them in making informed decisions about care and
treatment options. Other materials are designed to help the
recovering client cope with the emotional and psychological aspects
of treatment, surgeries, and other issues that affect the body.
Our agency distributes information to
increase public awareness and education about cancer risks, the
importance of early detection, and nutrition related topics.
Speakers
There are speakers available for community
organizations, schools, churches and business groups. The
speakers are capable of discussing a wide range of topics pertaining
to cancer, its prevention, and early detection.
Call the agency at least two weeks in advance
to reserve a speaker.
Equipment & Supplies
Equipment for the home, which promotes
comfort and facilitates care, is loaned upon the approval or
recommendation of the attending physician or medical personnel.
Hospital beds, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, bedside
commodes and tables, shower seats, wheel chairs, waffle mattress and
pillows, and pads may be provided.

Convenience items such as hospital gowns, bed
linens, disposable items, and monitors are provided.
Assistance with ostomy supplies and
nutritional supplements can be given to a client with physician's
approval.
Turbans and wigs are maintained for loan to
clients at no cost. Mastectomy supplies are available.
Surgical Dressings
Standard size dressings are stocked.
Special sizes and types may be supplied. We also have gloves,
tape, sponges, and prep pads available.
Transportation
Transportation for cancer treatment is
provided by our volunteers at no cost to you the client.
Clients who are receiving treatment and using their own
transportation may seek assistance with fuel costs and or a
volunteer driver.
Volunteers
Please call the office to obtain more
information about volunteering your time and services to Cancer
Services of Grant County. Or
download and print this form, fill it out and mail or bring into
Cancer Services.
Our volunteers donate time to work at health
fairs, agency programs, and fund raising events.
Agency volunteers transport clients to
medical appointments and treatments that are cancer related.
They also assist in the office with clerical functions.
Volunteers from churches, civic groups, and social groups assist
with making needed items.
Cancer Assistance Program
The Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) is a
special program designed to provide monetary assistance for
cancer-related symptom management medications.
Those eligible for CAP include:
- Persons who have had a cancer diagnosis
- Persons who are involved in cancer
therapy
- Persons meeting the income eligibility
Participants in the program may obtain their
cancer related medications at reduced or no cost.
Consideration for assistance will be reviewed
on a case-by-case basis.
Participants may receive cancer related
information and referrals to other helpful social service agencies.
This special program is available to all
eligible clients without regard to race, color, national origin, sex
or handicap.
Financial Support
Our agency receives support from United Way
of Grant County for our annual funding. The remaining amount
comes from contributions, bequests and fund raising events.
Upon receipt of a memorial contribution, an
appropriate card is sent to the family of the person in whose memory
the gift is made. Also, a card of appreciation is sent to the
donor.
Bereavement Classes
Cancer Services of Grant County offers
monthly bereavement classes. The classes are held at the
Cancer Services main office every second Thursday at 6:30 PM.
